Learning Log 1
I recorded this learning log during my first month as a TA. It's amazing to see how far we've come as a class. I mentioned that my students don't participate immediately, and for their last class of the semester, they lead their own discussion with almost no instructor intervention. I'm so proud of them! I also brought up my concern that students would not want to come to me with their questions and concerns. Towards the end of the semester, I had a decent amount of students that trusted me to help them extensively with their assignments. My original purpose in the class was to be "student plus," which entailed preparing answers to Catherine's planned questions. The class has been so great with participation that I haven't had to jump in in weeks. It gave me more time to collaborate with Catherine and more time to work one-on-one with my students. I've certainly come a long way since the first learning log, but I certainly did not get here alone.

Learning Log 2
This learning log includes my concerns with a student of mine. I wasn't thrilled to have a student potentially fail the class I assisted, but I looked at the situation as an opportunity to learn how to best approach students that fall behind. Unfortunately, the student continued to fall behind outside of the classroom. I met with them once more and Catherine met with them several times. Some students are fine with barely passing a class when other classes take precedence in their major, and I knew that the student was understanding the material because they were one of the main contributors to class discussions. I chalked it up to a learning experience for both of us, and I hope that the student is working towards their goals in other places as well.

Learning Log 3
This was the point in the semester that I suddenly had my hands full with students. Catherine assured me that this is a normal phenomenon that happens towards the end of every semester. I relished in the opportunities to work closely on topics so important to the students. I had a great time working with them on their series of assignments that began with the Inquiry Assignment. I got to put my peer review skills to work while simultaneously learning more skills from the group workshops during our lectures. I impressed myself with how much information I actually knew about the process of writing. I give the credit to my amazing, awesome 388V classmates and professor. Learning to teach and practicing teaching at the same time was truly a rewarding experience.
